Sammy Hagar’s original Cabo Wabo Cantina opened more than two decades ago. That restaurant was ahead of the tourism wave that later swept over Cabo San Lucas making it the popular tropical destination it is today. The location at the Miracle Mile Shops adjacent to Planet Hollywood successfully marries the casual vibe of the islands with the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip to give diners an enjoyable dining experience. This is one of those unpretentious Las Vegas restaurants. It’s one where you won’t have to worry about dressing to impress. This casual dining restaurant has a rock and roll vibe that’s all about fun. You would expect a place that uses recycled Corona bottles as salt and pepper shakers not to take itself too seriously, and Cabo Wabo Cantina lives up to that expectation.
The Loft is an upstairs lounge with multiple large-scale HD TVs, a 180” projection screen and a 184” video grid. Sports fans can watch the latest games and cheer on their favorites while sipping cocktails and noshing on Tex-Mex style cuisine. Seating is also available downstairs and on the Strip patio in a primo people watching location. The drink menu offers an extensive selection of Mexican and domestic beers, including Sammy’s Red Head by the glass and by the pitcher. Wine drinkers have a dozen or so red and white wines to choose from as well as Sangria Blanco and Sangria Rojo. Tequila connoisseurs have more than three dozen different tequilas to try, including the Cabo Wabo Diablo.
Signature cocktails are served in a 24-oz Cabo Wabo Las Vegas souvenir glass. Red Rocker fans will want to try the Can’t Drive 55 made with Cabo Wabo Blanco tequila, Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, vodka, gin, a splash of Amaretto di Saronno and a mixture of orange, cranberry, pineapple and lime juices. With its central location on the Strip, Cabo Wabo Cantina offers a great place to grab breakfast in Las Vegas after 8 am. The morning menu offers a good selection of eggs, scrambles, omelets, pancakes, waffles and French toast along with more than a half dozen specialties, including eggs Benedict -- the traditional way or the Cabo Wabo way with machaca, chorizo and melted pepper jack cheese.
For lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a wide variety of appetizers, soups, salads, burritos, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, steaks, sandwiches and burgers. Specialty dishes include Sammy’s Tequila Shrimp featuring Baja shrimp prepared with garlic and Cabo Wabo Tequila-Lime Sauce served with Mexican dirty rice. The Jack & Coke BBQ Rib feast includes baby back pork ribs smothered in Jack Daniels/Coca-Cola BBQ Sauce served with Mexican style corn on the cob and French fries on the side.
The restaurant occasionally offers live music and hosts special events during holiday weekends and throughout the year.
